Nintendo is no longer offering Switch game vouchers. On January 30, 2026, the scheme that allows Switch Online users to save money on digital games will stop.

Vouchers will still expire a year after they are acquired, even though players won’t be able to buy them beyond this date. In 2019, Nintendo launched Switch game vouchers, which let Switch Online users buy two coupons for $99.98 each and use them to buy two compatible titles.

Players may use their Nintendo coupons to save roughly $10 on each game because several of the titles on the company’s list of eligible games, such as Super Mario Party Jamboree, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, and Mario & Luigi Brothership, cost $59.99. Although Nintendo claims that players cannot use their coupons to buy Switch 2 exclusives, users can still get around this restriction by using them to purchase discounted first-generation games that have been upgraded for the Switch 2 and then paying for the Switch 2 upgrade.

Nintendo claims that until the next year, it would keep adding games to its list of qualified titles. It’s unclear if Nintendo intends to use any additional cost-cutting strategies that could be useful for more expensive Switch 2 games, such as Mario Kart World, which retails for $79.99. Additionally, Nintendo discontinued its My Nintendo Gold Points loyalty program in March, meaning gamers can no longer accrue points for game purchases and use them for savings on digital goods.
