Galaxy S26
  • The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra could have the same number of megapixels as last year, but at least one upgraded sensor
  • The middle Galaxy S26 model might have a new 50MP ultra-wide camera
  • Codenames for the Samsung Galaxy S26 series have also leaked

With a recent report outlining several potential sensor upgrades, it appears that the Samsung Galaxy S26 series‘ cameras may be the company’s primary priority. Typically, when a new phone model is introduced, some features receive considerably more upgrades than others.

WinFuture claims that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will have a 200MP primary sensor; however, based on another recent camera leak, this will be a bigger Sony camera.

WinFuture also notes that, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, there will be an ultra-wide camera with unknown specifications and a 50MP telephoto camera (perhaps with a 5x optical zoom). Although it isn’t stated above, we would presume that there would also be a 3x telephoto, given the Galaxy S25 Ultra has one.

The middle model in the Galaxy S26 lineup, which might be the Samsung Galaxy S26 Plus or the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge, is also mentioned by the same source, which asserts that it sports a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Whichever of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus and S25 Edge this is a successor to, it would be a sensor improvement because both have 12MP ultra-wide cameras.

Therefore, if these suggestions are correct, at least two Galaxy S26 versions will have an upgraded sensor.

The next paradigm

The website claims that the Samsung Galaxy S26 is codenamed NPA1, the middle model, which may again be the S26 Plus or the S26 Edge, is codenamed NPA2, and the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is codenamed NPA3. However, it does not contain any information regarding the cameras of the base Samsung Galaxy S26.

The website hypothesizes that these new codenames stand for “Next Paradigm,” as the S25 series was called PA1, PA2, and PA3, with the “PA” bit representing “Paradigm.”

In any event, WinFuture says it got these codenames and this camera information from publicly accessible databases, and the entries are obviously attributable to Samsung or its suppliers, so there’s a good possibility these details are correct even though no links are given.

Since the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is most likely to come in early 2019, we should know by then.
