Samsung confirms the Galaxy S25 will get One UI 8 in September – though Galaxy Watch owners have a longer wait

One UI 8 (based on Android 16) was preinstalled on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 at launch, and the rollout for previous phones is quickly approaching: Samsung has stated that the software update for the Galaxy S25 series will be available in September.

In a press release, Samsung verified the announcement and stated that the ongoing One UI 8 beta program will be extended to the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 next week, with further devices to follow next month.

The One UI 8 testing phase began in May, which was actually not long after One UI 7 was formally unveiled. Samsung is obviously eager to meet Google’s Android launch date, which has been moved ahead in the calendar year.

Upgrades to Bluetooth audio (allowing for multiple, simultaneous connections), better sharing choices, additional Now Bar functionality, and on-device security are some of the features that the software update offers.

The One UI 8 Watch upgrade for the top Samsung watches will eventually accompany One UI 8, although it appears that the wait will be a little longer as Samsung states that it will arrive “later in the year.”

Only a few models—the original Galaxy Watch Ultra, which debuted in 2024; the updated Galaxy Watch Ultra for 2025; or the brand-new Galaxy Watch 8 or Galaxy Watch 8 Classic—can already put One UI 8 Watch on your wrist.

There is a beta for watches, just like for phones and their software update, but as of this writing, it is only accessible for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 series and only if you are in the US or South Korea, where Samsung is based.

A number of helpful enhancements are included with the One UI 8 Watch, such as antioxidant measures and new features for tracking sleep and running. There may be further advancements coming, such as Gemini AI.
