HBO Max has released a final trailer for Peacemaker season 2, which is undoubtedly inappropriate to view in public, in anticipation of the show’s less than week-long premiere.
With DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn at the helm, the red band trailer, which was released yesterday (August 14), is packed with the gory action and bawdy humor we’ve come to expect from R-rated films. It’s a sizzle reel that’s best viewed in private, with everything from mangled bodies and a lot of profanity to an orgy that appears to equal The Boys’ ‘Herogasm’ episode from season three in terms of the quantity of nudity on display. (Warning: caution is urged for viewers).
Peacemaker season 2 is scheduled to premiere on August 21 in North and South America and August 22 in other regions. This is the final piece of footage-based marketing that we will probably see.

It also has a ton of fascinating footage. The multiversal aspects of this season were highlighted in the first two teasers for the returning smash program, but they did little to allay DC fans’ worries about the show’s position under Gunn and Peter Safran’s rebooted DC Universe (DCU). Rick Flag Sr.’s pursuit of the titular figure, Chris Smith, who, spoiler alert, killed Flag Sr.’s son in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, is highlighted in the final teaser for the adult-oriented TV Original.
There are also prominent allusions to Gunn’s Superman film, including Lex Luthor’s plot to end the planet and the danger posed by metahumans, or superpowered beings. Therefore, it appears that the second season of Peacemaker would alternate between the DCU dimension and any parallel realities that the show’s characters discovers using the Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC), which is the interdimensional storage unit located in Smith’s deceased father’s house.
Does Peacemaker season 2’s final trailer ruin a major plot point ahead of the show’s return?
Overall, the final batch of footage for the third DCU Chapter One project is receiving a lot of positive feedback from fans. However, I believe that many people have overlooked the fact that the most recent teaser for Peacemaker 2 seems to reveal a significant plot point that could significantly affect the film’s plot.
Potentially big spoilers follow for Peacemaker season 2.
A four-eyed alien that seems to be carrying a dead, hairless cast opens its own interdimensional gateway to the QUC in the last clip of the video. Smith and his self-proclaimed best friend Adrian Chase/Vigilante are seen burning something as it enters this apparently limitless domain. In summary, Smith urges the alien to depart in a rough manner, which leads to a dialog between Smith and Chase that is somewhat humorous.
I don’t believe the two are having an interdimensional barbecue, but we don’t know what they’re doing. Actually, I think they’re removing evidence that might link them to a murder.
Consider it. The two are dressed in blood-stained hazmat-style gloves and aprons. Smith only enlists Chase’s assistance when there is some sort of grubby task to complete, as we repeatedly discovered in season 1. In addition, the official Peacemaker season 2 trailer featured a tense confrontation with an alternate reality’s Peacemaker and Smith guiding Chase through the QUC while the latter carried equipment typically used for cleaning.
All of this information leads me to believe that Smith killed someone by accident. In my opinion, it’s not just any anyone either; in fact, I believe it to be the Peacemaker stated earlier.
Is this one clip giving me too much information? Maybe, but before you entirely reject the concept, allow me to share with you a portion of the official logline for the upcoming episode of one of the greatest HBO Max shows: “In season 2, Peacemaker discovers an alternate world where life is everything he wishes it could be.”
As suggested, the life of this other Smith/Peacemaker is far superior to that of the DCU. Season 2’s numerous previews have alluded to the possibility that the Smith we know could get envious and, whether on purpose or not, kill his multiversal variant, enabling him to replace this parallel world’s Smith.
