- The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is again tipped to be IP68 rated
- It would be the first foldable to reach the standard
- The Pixel 10 phones are getting unveiled on August 20
There is a speculation that the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will be the first foldable device to arrive with an IP68 classification for dust and water resistance, and we are eagerly awaiting the big Google Pixel 10 showcase on August 20.
The IP68 rating is the most notable feature of the phone, according to an article from WinFuture that presents the majority of its technical specifications. Not even the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, which has an IP48 rating, can compare to it.
An IP68 phone is entirely impervious to dust and watertight; the precise definition varies depending on the phone and manufacturer, but it is generally accepted that an IP68 phone can withstand immersion in water for 30 minutes at a depth of 1.5 meters (about five feet).

Similar to foldables like the Motorola Razr 50 Ultra, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold has IPX8 protection, which means it is very waterproof but does not ensure that dust and dirt particles won’t get into the casing.
A repeating rumor

When it comes to keeping out dust and water, a folding phone with a flexible screen and a hinge naturally poses some unique issues. If Google has been able to meet the necessary standards with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, it will be quite an accomplishment.
It is increasingly plausible that Google has accomplished that feat, given we heard the same rumor from different sources in June and July. This will certainly be one of the main selling points of the phone, in addition to whatever other updates we receive.
The update from UFS 3.1 to UFS 4.0 for the storage is another intriguing detail from this study. It will result in a speed boost and make the foldable phone feel snappier overall, but it won’t make a big difference.
Naturally, we will be providing live coverage of the August 20 debut of the Pixel 10 Pro Fold and the other devices in the series. We anticipate that Google will also give a livestream with some details so that you can follow along from wherever in the world.
