- A leaker has suggested possible launch dates for the iPhone 17
- The soonest could be less than two months away
- The iPhone 17 is expected to usher in major design changes
A trustworthy leaker has recently published what they believe to be the most likely dates for Apple’s new phones to launch, in case you’ve been anxiously awaiting word on when the iPhone 17 series might be on sale. Although no official dates have been announced yet, the recommended dates make a lot of sense.
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman’s most recent Power On email ($/£), Apple often releases new iPhones the week after Labor Day. This year, Labor Day occurs on September 1, thus the week beginning September 8 is the most likely choice.
Gurman expanded on that notion by pointing out that Apple has never planned events for Fridays and has generally shunned programs that take place on September 11. Therefore, the remaining days are Monday, September 8, Tuesday, September 9, and Wednesday, September 10.
Since Apple has had five September events on Tuesdays and four on Wednesdays over the past ten years, September 9 and September 10 are likely dates for the iPhone event. Although it was an anomaly in its recent history, Apple did have a Monday event in 2024.
What will we see at the event?

According to multiple prominent sources and leakers, the iPhone 17 is anticipated to have a significant visual overhaul on the back, including a horizontal camera bar that would house the device’s lenses and sensors. Additionally, we might witness a new A19 family of CPUs, faster MagSafe charging, and modifications to the Dynamic Island.
Additionally, there are hints that Apple is planning to launch a new iPhone model, called the iPhone 17 Air. The iPhone 16 Plus is said to be replaced by this, which is said to be the thinnest iPhone in the lineup.
With the Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, and Apple Watch SE 3 all expected to debut, we should also expect improvements to the Apple Watch lineup in addition to the iPhone.
Now might be the time to put the week of September 8 on your calendar, since Apple’s event is only a few months away from starting. When Apple sends out invitations for the show, we’ll know the exact date, but for now, this is the closest thing we have to a confirmed release date.
