iOS 26
  • iOS 26 beta 6 is out for developers
  • There are changes to Liquid Glass and the Camera app
  • There are also 7 new ringtones

Ahead of its official release later this year, Apple is still releasing beta versions for its iOS 26 software. The most recent beta 6 version for developers includes a number of intriguing changes, one of which I’m very eager to test out.

iOS 26 is snappier than ever, with apps loading and switching substantially faster, according to TechCrunch and other reports. This is a clear indication that Apple is still refining the software before it is released to millions of iPhones.

More changes have also been made to Liquid Glass here (through MacRumors), including a more 3D-looking lock-screen clock and increased transparency on the lock screen. Additionally, it appears that Apple has worked harder to make the Liquid Glass effect more readable.

Additionally, Apple has restored the previous swipe orientation for the camera screen’s modes, so it’s pretty much as you were with that. A few betas ago, for some reason, Apple reversed the swipe way, which confused most users’ muscle memory.

Added ringtones

When iOS 26 is released to the general public (presumably in September, along with the iPhone 17 series), a new and enhanced onboarding procedure for users will be available here to assist explain all the changes. However, keep in mind that this is the developer beta; if you are enrolled in the public beta program, you will not yet notice any improvements.

But the seven new ringtones that Apple has added, which give you even more options for incoming calls, are what I’m most enthusiastic about. There is a brand-new ringtone named Little Bird in addition to some stylish versions of the basic Reflection ringtone.

I’ve listened to it already, and it’s a lively song that cleverly blends whistling with synth tones. I especially enjoy the new Reflection takes, which have a new sound put on top of a familiar sound.

By getting enthusiastic over new ringtones, I may be exposing myself to mockery, but these are noises I hear on a daily basis, and new ones are always nice. In fact, Apple hasn’t gifted us to any new variations for a few years.
