  • The Google Pixel 10 series doesn’t include Battery Share
  • This feature was removed to allow for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging
  • Not all Pixel fans are happy about this change

Battery Share is one of the many new features that the Google Pixel 10 series has, but it is also lacking in some other areas.

The ability to wirelessly charge other devices using your phone is known as Google’s reverse wireless charging function. The Pixel 10 lacks this capability, which is typical of Android smartphones, including the Google Pixel 9 series.

There is a valid explanation for this, though, as DroidReader inquired on Google and was informed that the array of magnets needed for Qi2 magnetic wireless charging “presents a physical limitation for reverse wireless charging but creates a strong connection with the charger.”

In other words, Google had to eliminate Battery Share in order to implement Qi2 magnetic wireless charging, which enables the usage of the new Pixelsnap accessories.

We would bet that this is a decent trade for the majority of folks. Similar to MagSafe, Pixelsnap is a network of wireless chargers and add-ons like grips and stands that can be magnetized to the back of your Pixel 10.

Although it’s a valuable tool, not everyone is pleased with the move; comments like “this one hurts a lot” and “Battery Share I found to be such a useful feature” can be found in a Reddit discussion.

However, some responses indicated that they rarely or never use it, so it’s clear that not everyone loves this function. If not, other companies like Samsung still provide reverse wireless charging options. Hopefully, even people who enjoyed Battery Share will grow to love Pixelsnap as well.
