  • Flashlight brightness control is coming to Pixel phones
  • It’s been spotted in the latest Android preview version
  • Previously you needed a third-party app to access the feature

All the greatest smartphones come with a flashlight, which is a helpful bonus. It’s even more helpful when you can choose how strong it is, a feature that finally appears to be coming to Pixel phones with a future Android update.

The most recent Android Canary release, the first iteration of Android, has the ability to change flashlight brightness via a straightforward on-screen slider from the Quick Settings panel, as observed by Android Authority.

We’re happy to see the Pixels are finally catching up because the top Samsung phones and iPhones already have this feature. There are many situations in which having the ability to change the flashlight’s intensity might be useful.

Although the feature has been since 2022 and Android 13, Pixel phones have not yet fully included it. To adjust the strength up to now, you had to use a third-party flashlight app.

The time it will take for Pixel phones to get this is unknown, but it shouldn’t be long. The Android 16 QPR2 upgrade, which stands for Quarterly Platform Release and is expected to be available to all users in September, may coincide with its release.

Pixel owners may also anticipate additional customisation for the Quick Settings panel, lock-screen widgets for phones, and support for an enhanced dark mode and better icon theming in Android 16 QPR2.

Additional apps that require biometric verification (such as a fingerprint or face scan) will also be able to use the Identity Check functionality. Secure Lock Device is an improved remote-locking feature as well.

Naturally, all of these capabilities will be available on the recently released Google Pixel 10 phones, which ship with an earlier version of Android 16 preinstalled. However, you might discover that you use the flashlight brightness adjustment the most.
