The much anticipated ChatGPT-5 has not yet been revealed, despite OpenAI CEO Sam Altman’s statement on X.com that “we have a ton of stuff to launch over the next couple of months – new models, products, features, and more.”
It was widely believed that ChatGPT-5 would be launched in the beginning of August, as many news sources had anticipated. But when the calendar turned to August, all we saw was the OpenAI CEO’s tweet.
Launching ChatGPT-5 at the beginning of the month would have been ideal, and Altman’s reference to the “next couple of months” suggests that we may still have to wait a little while for the release of OpenAI’s most remarkable model.
“Please bear with us through some probable hiccups and capacity crunches,” Altman said, warning ChatGPT customers that they may experience some disruptions over the next months. “We think you’ll really love what we’ve created for you, even though it might be a little choppy,” he said.
Capacity cruches
As if on cue, a user of ChatGPT has claimed that the service has begun to randomly cap the daily allotment of images to 30.

When will ChatGPT-5 arrive?
It is anticipated that ChatGPT 5 will be the first OpenAI model to automatically direct your request to the best suitable model version, or research method, rather than requiring you to select from a variety of confusingly labeled model versions. Additionally, it is said to have significant gains in speed, accuracy, and resource efficiency.
Even though it’s annoying that OpenAI didn’t deliver ChatGPT 5 before the beginning of the month, there is still time for an August release. It will be interesting to see if the new model will be available to free ChatGPT users as well or if it will just be available to Plus customers.
